Protester Arrested At Bison Facility

Jacobs

(GARDINER, MT)  An environmental activist seeking to draw attention to the capture and shipping to slaughter of bison north of Yellowstone National Park near Gardiner, Montana Thursday handcuffed himself to the entrance to the Stephens Creek holding facility in order to prevent shipping trailers from accessing the bison there.  20 year-old Comfrey Jacobs handcuffed himself to a hunter orange 55-gallon barrel filled with concrete, and wire-mesh webbing spanning the entrance to the roadway, which is closed to public access.  Jacobs said he was aware of the repercussions his actions would bring, but felt strongly that he needed to draw attention to what Yellowstone National Park is doing. Jacobs was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, breaking the Stephens Creek closure, and interfering with a government operation.
