(MOOSE) Spring break for college students has developed a reputation all of its own. However, Grand Teton National Park four years ago developed a program that provides a valuable alternative to the carousing that stereotypically has come to represent spring break. It is called the NPS Academy which invites 25 students from universities across America to come learn about career opportunities with the park service and other federal agencies via workshops, field trips and recreational activities. The program is funded through the Grand Teton National Park Foundation and the Grand Teton Association. Since the program was pioneered in Jackson Hole, four out of the six national park regions have replicated it. The session runs throughout this week.
