Gov. Mead Signs Park Land Trade Bill

land trade

(CHEYENNE)  Governor Matt Mead signed the act passed this session by the state legislature to clear the way for the state and the Interior Department to exchange land parcels in order to keep school sections owned by the state within the protection of Grand Teton National Park.  Teton County Senator Leland Christensen and Jackson Representative Ruth Ann Petroff were on hand for the signing and told the governor the measure is of great benefit for the entire state and the state’s schools.  Mead recognized that the matter was one that required considerable effort on the parts of the bill’s sponsors. The bill effectively allows the state and federal government one additional year to agree upon federally-owned property of equal value elsewhere in Wyoming to be exchanged for two parcels of land near the town of Kelly within the boundaries of Grand Teton National Park.
