(MOOSE, Wyo)  The skier who was injured Sunday in an avalanche in Grand Teton National Park’s Granite Canyon has been identified now.  43 year-old Greg Epstein from Wilson was skiing with two companions at the time and was preparing to descend one of the Air Force chutes when the avalanche triggered.  Park officials say Epstein was carried over 1000 feet by the slide.  Reports indicate he deployed an airbag which kept him from being buried by the avalanche, but he still sustained serious injuries.  Park rangers say the party had extensive knowledge of backcountry skiing and avalanche danger and was well equipped with appropriate safety gear.  Epstein remains hospitalized at St. John’s Medical Center where he was transported after the incident.
