(COOKE CITY, Mont)  An 18 year-old Minnesota man died yesterday in an avalanche near Cooke City Montana.  According to Park County, Montana Undersheriff Scott Hamilton, the sheriff’s office there received a call at about 4:00 pm of a snowmobiler buried in an avalanche in the Daisy Pass/Crown Butte area.  Five members of the Park County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded and began probing the debris field, finding Zachery Junkermeier of Lake Lillian, Minnesota about 55 minutes later.  Junkermeier was located about six feet below the surface.  Hamilton says the he was not wearing a rescue beacon  CPR attempts failed to revive him.  Junkermeier was with a party of six when the avalanche occurred, with one other snowmobiler being slightly injured in the slide. Hamilton says avalanche conditions remain extreme in that area.
