(BOISE, Ida) Wyoming is not the only state to recently authorize the raising of speed limits on portions of interstate highway to as much as 80 miles per hour. A bill to do the same in Idaho has been passed in that state’s legislature and sent to Governor Butch Otter to be signed into law. As in Wyoming, the state’s transportation department must first study the areas where the speeds are to be increased to determine if it is in the best interest of the motoring public. Those speeds would not be raised until July, however. Previously, Utah and parts of Texas have authorized increasing the speed to 80 in specific locations.
