Rock-falls Still Snarl Jackson Traffic

Falling Rock

(JACKSON, Wyo)  Drivers who travel the northern end of South Park Loop Road have repeatedly been confounded in their travels as rock-falls along that stretch of road have caused the road to be closed on numerous occasions.  So far, the Jackson public works department has placed a snow barrier between the road and the hillside, and more recently has set concrete barriers on the north side of the road – narrowing it to two lanes.  Public works officials say next week, consultants will be brought in to examine the hillside and determine the best course of action to stabilize it.  In the meantime, traffic through the several-block section of road will be restricted until the rocks stop careening down the hill and onto the road.
