Latest Snowmobile Fatality Victim Identified

(COOKE CITY, Mont)  Another snowmobiler died in an incident near Cooke City, Montana yesterday.  Park County, Montana Undersheriff Scott Hamilton says a snowmobile crash in the vicinity of Abundance Flat  was reported shortly after noon to Yellowstone National Park who in turn the Park County Sheriff’s office.  Hamilton says 48 year-old Brian MacPherson, of Martensville, Saskatchewan, Canada was apparently attempting to jump a creek with his snowmobile at a high rate of speed when the machine crashed, overturning on top of him.  A member of that county’s search and rescue team arrived on the scene in minutes and initiated CPR on MacPherson even as a medical helicopter with additional search and rescue members were on the way.  Hamilton says life-saving measures were not successful, MacPherson was pronounced dead at the scene and the helicopter was turned back. This is the second snowmobile fatality in that area in three days.
