St. John’s Health has decided to postpone antibody testing for hospital employees until more thorough research has been done and tests have been approved by the FDA. CEO Paul Beaupre made the announcement during Friday’s community update.
Beaupre said, “St. John’s will be postponing the use of antibody testing for our front-line staff and first responders until we are assured of the accuracy of these tests and have been told which platform Teton County will be using.”
Beaupre suggested a panel of health professionals who do not have any financial ties to any of the testing platforms being commercially developed be put together. That panel could then determine which platform would be the best to use here. In the meantime, Beaupre says the most poignant need in the valley is to secure more PCR testing kits to diagnose patients for COVID-19.
