Teton County property owners will begin receiving their 2020 Property Tax Assessment Notices this week. The 2020 assessment notices reflect property values as of January 1st, 2020, which are developed using sales information collected during calendar year 2019. The Assessor’s Office is required to value property using the replacement cost new, subtracting depreciation, and then trending for sales. As in 2017 and 2018, many residents will see an increase of their property value this year, due to local market conditions. It is important to understand that the values are unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic. If homeowners believe that the total valuation is inaccurate, they must contact the assessor’s office by 5:00 pm, Wednesday, May 13th. Anyone who has been receiving the Veteran’s Exemption, and it is not shown in the lower right-hand corner of the Notice of Value, should contact the Assessor’s Office by May 25th so that it can be applied. Due to physical distancing efforts, the Teton County Assessor’s Office will not hold in-person meetings, and asks that all questions regarding the 2020 assessment be submitted by email at assessor@tetoncountywy.gov or by phone.
