High School Robotics Team Returns
Jackson Hole High School’s robotics team has returned from international competition in St. Louis, Missouri over the past four days – perhaps not in the winner’s circle, but with rich experiences to reflect upon. Team Advisor Gary Duquette says the team’s robot operated as it should most of the time and they were able to remain competitive even though they were out-classed. Some 600 teams in this competition hailed from all 50 states and 13 countries. Duquette says unlike the Salt Lake Region where the team had qualified for the St. Louis competition, many of these teams had multiple robots to draw from, had raised as much as $50-thousand for their projects and boasted 40 or more mentors. Still, says Duquette, the Jackson Team competed with the division whose final surviving teams ultimately won the international event. In Duquette’s words, “the students had an amazing time and they cannot wait to go back.”
