Engineers and geologists from the Wyoming Department of Transportation will hold open houses in Jackson and in Alpine to discuss the landslide in the Snake River Canyon. The open house in Jackson is scheduled for 7:00 until 8:00 pm Friday in the Jackson Hole Middle School Commons area, and provides an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions about the slide, which has necessitated the closure of U.S. Highway 26/89 between Jackson Hole and Alpine, Wyoming. The second open house will be held in Alpine from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Saturday at the Alpine Civic Center. More information at can be found on WYDOT’s road and travel website, www.wyoroad.info or by calling 511. Additional details about the slide and efforts to clear it will be published as they become available.
