One Day Delay For Opening Hwy 89
Wyoming Department of Transportation Resident Engineer Bob Hammond has announced that the reopening of US 26/89 through the Snake River Canyon will not occur tonight. Hammond says while nothing major went wrong Friday, the project simply took more time than anticipated. Hammond says all of the crews working on the Double Draw Landslide are still working 24 hours a day to complete the cleanup, the drainage pipe installation and repairs. The new target is to open one lane through the slide area by Saturday evening. Meanwhile, Alltrans has announced it will initiate a free shuttle service Saturday between Victor, Idaho and the Stilson Park-and-Ride lot at the junction of WYO 22 and WYO 390 south of Teton Village. WYDOT is funding the shuttle service for a 35-day trial period in an attempt to reduce traffic on Teton Pass. The schedule for the 28-passenger shuttle is designed to coordinate with the START Bus schedule for passenger pickups at the Stilson Park and Ride. The cost of a START Bus ride from there into Jackson is $3.
