One week after a Facebook campaign was launched to keep the Spud Drive In Theater in Driggs, Idaho from closing, arrangements have been made to keep the iconic attraction open for another season.  A group of people who had been involved in running the drive-in in the past came together to form a plan to resurrect the theater.  Dawnelle Mangum who was among that group and posted on the “Save The Spud” site, quoting now, “Your posts have given us much needed encouragement.”  Within a week, over 1600 people responded to the Facebook site.  With the theater’s new digital projector sold by Wydaho Group, the theater’s owner since last year, the group reopening the theater quickly reinstalled the old projector and prepared the projection booth for action.  Mangum says, she sought to lease the drive-in for this summer and beyond and the corporation has given that effort to keep the theater open its full support.  Mangum says they are planning on some great improvements, and she says future of the drive-in (in her words) “looks really good.”  The gate opens at 7:30 pm.
