Barrasso Confronts USFWS

graywolf

There’s still not resolution to the embattled wolf delisting question in Wyoming, but Senator John Barrasso has managed to get the Interior Department’s attention.  For two weeks, the senator has blocked confirmation of Daniel Ashe as director of the Fish and Wildlife Service to influence the service to step up negotiations with the state. Barrasso says he’s happy that “progress has been made” now, but he’ll continue to keep the hold in place to make sure Fish and Wildlife doesn’t break off communication again. Barrasso points out that the wolf has been devastating to both the state’s livestock and big game populations impacting both the ranching and the hunting industries.
