Driggs Bear More Active

July 26, 2011 Teton County, Teton Valley No Comments
Bear Warning

A Grizzly Bear has been frequenting the Driggs area of Teton County, Idaho near Cottonwood Corner. The skate park in that vicinity has been closed as a precaution because it backs up to the woods in which the bear was seen. County Sheriff’s officials believe that this is the same bear reported about 3 miles away earlier last week when it reportedly charged a woman on a bicycle on the Darby Canyon Road. The grizzly sow has now charged a car as well. She is believed to be a sow with cubs, but no one has yet reported seeing any cubs with her.  Fish and Game is setting traps to relocate the bear. Meanwhile county officials encourage people to be ‘bear aware’, taking extra precautions and considering changes to hiking plans in the Darby and Teton Canyon areas.
