Unannounced Fundraiser Benefits Schools

A surprise fundraising event to benefit the local school district caused no small amount of concern in the community this weekend, but when it was all sorted out, it turned out that the effort was not a scam and the local school district will benefit.  Teton County School District #1 Superintendent Pam Shea says the effort was born out of a business seminar that was taking place here. Shea says the money that results from this effort will enable the district to accomplish some of their goals without conducting fundraisers they thought they would have to for those specific projects.  Still, Shea says there was no small amount of concern about the legitimacy of the effort since it was launched without having it approved through school district channels. Shea says the appropriate forms are easily accessed from the school district website, and participation in that process will enable the school district to support their retreat in Jackson Hole in a very welcoming way.
