LDS Temple Planned In Star Valley
The LDS Church had a major surprise for its members in Star Valley over the weekend. During his opening remarks at the Saturday morning session of the October 2011 General Conference, LDS President Thomas Monson announced plans for the first temple in Wyoming, to be constructed in Star Valley. In making his announcement, Monson quipped, “I think I’ll dedicate that one. There’s good fishing up there!” The Church has a long history in Star Valley with the first Mormons of record arriving from England in 1858 to labor on the Lander Cutoff. No site location or groundbreaking date has been officially announced yet for the Star Valley Temple.
