Summer visitation to Yellowstone National Park is down from 2010 but still emerged as the second highest summer visitation in the park’s history.  According to statistics from the park, summer visitation totaled 3-million-90-thousand-615, down from the more than 3-million-308-thousand seen during the summer of 2010.  September also recorded the second highest visitation ever for the month with 536-thousand-349 recreational visitors passing through the gates, down from 550-thousand-504 counted during the same month in 2010.  The West Entrance remains the park’s busiest, with nearly 210,000 visitors in September, and nearly 1.3 million for the summer, followed by the South, North, East and Northeast Entrances respectively.
