Seeking Alternatives For Land Sale
While there has been no further conversation about federal funding since Interior Secretary Ken Salazar suggested there may not be sufficient federal funds to consummate the state’s land deal in Grand Teton National Park, there has been discussion about possible alternatives. Mead says some state leaders are looking at a possible land trade in lieu of cash should funding fall short. The agreement, reached last December, calls for the government to acquire the state-owned parcels within the park sequentially as funding allows, with the most desirable parcel near Kelly to be the final one closed. The state parcels collectively were sold for 107-million dollars.
