Historic Properties Examined

GTNP Sign

Grand Teton National Park is hosting a public scoping meeting to discuss plans to preserve or restore various historic structures within the park.  Over the years, the national park’s emphasis has been on natural history to the expense of many of its cultural resources, but in recent years, Park Spokesperson Jackie Skaggs says the national focus has expanded. Skaggs says the meeting will begin with a short presentation about some of the structure or properties in question followed by a discussion with park staff to elicit the public’s thoughts about the locations. Skaggs says treatments may range from restoration of a property to simply interpretation of what had been at the location.  The meeting takes place this evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the American Legion Hall on North Cache Street in Jackson.
