Wyoming Payroll Increases

The Research & Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services is reporting that total unemployment insurance covered payroll in the state increased by $140-million, or 5.3% in first quarter of 2011. According to their report, employment rose by 2,652 jobs and average weekly wage increased by 4.3% compared with last year. These increases, they say were similar to their five-year averages. Sublette County added 227 jobs and its total payroll rose by nearly $12.0 million, or 17.1%. Teton County meanwhile lost 73 jobs (one of eight counties to lose jobs) but payroll rose slightly more than $879-thousand dollars.  The department report goes on that preliminary data for second quarter or 2011 indicates growth in payroll and jobs was slightly more modest throughout the state than during first quarter.
