School Calendars Examined
Work continues on examining the options for next year’s calendar for Teton County Schools, but no decision is anticipated before next February. Superintendent Pam Shea told Jackson Hole Radio that while a so-called “balanced school calendar” shortening the summer break is one of the three under consideration, it has not yet been determined to be the one that is most appropriate for this community. Shea says aside from the national studies now encouraging a shorter summer break, there are local considerations to be examined. Shea says information is being gathered now regarding the benefits and disadvantages of each of the proposed calendars and the public will be encouraged to participate in a workshop in January where all the findings will be discussed.
