Beginning in January ice skaters will be able to lace up their skates and skate on outdoor rinks around the valley, including a new ice rink right on the Town Square. Jackson town council members voted Monday to approve a proposal by the Grand Teton Skating Academy to build an ice pond on Town Square that will be open to the public by the middle of January through sometime in March. Organizers hope that the skating rink, which will also offer skate rentals, hot cocoa and live music, will bring new life to Jackson’s downtown and more foot traffic to area businesses during the quieter winter months. Meanwhile, the Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department has announced the opening of outdoor ice rinks at Owen-Bircher Park in Wilson and at the Rodeo Grounds arena in Jackson for the season.  The Rodeo Grounds rink is open from 11:00 am until 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 11:00 am – 9:00 pm Friday through Sunday. The Wilson ice rink is generally open from 11:00 am – 8:30 pm.

In my opinion, everybody should go hunting each weekend of the hunting season. You don’t have to go after elk or deer every time. Change it up a little. Hunt doves on the first weekend, then try to get a blue grouse or two the next. Later in the fall, you can start working duck […]

The Wyoming Cowboys open up their football season at home against Montana tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in Laramie.  It’s the first meeting between the two schools since 1997, and the Grizzlies enter the game as the fifth-ranked team in the FCS. On defense, the Cowboys top priority is to stop the run.  With a talented quarterback […]
  • Warmer Temperatures With Isolated Thunderstorms Expected Today - August 29, 2014
A weak ridge of high pressure will build over the region today, which will allow temperatures to become warmer and closer to average statewide.  However, some lingering low-level moisture and daytime heating could trigger a few hit or miss thunderstorms for the afternoon and early evening hours.  Gusty winds and lots of lightning will be […]

At the risk of sounding like I’ve been watching too much Top Gear, I need to go off on a bit of a rant right now. The good folks at Nissan let me drive a Titan for two full months, which was really nice of them. And it’s done a pretty good job of filling […]
