AAA Says Travel Is Up

aaa

Triple-A Auto Club predicts more drivers will hit the highways this holiday season. They say nearly 92 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the 11-day period from December 23rd to January 2nd. That’s an increase of 1.4%, and the second highest number in the past decade. In the mountain region, including Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, travel is expected to increase 2.2% this holiday period.  AAA explains that the percentage of expected individual travelers from the Mountain region is higher than expected nationally, which explains the above-average increase in travel in the Mountain region this year. Automobile travel here is expected to rise by 3.4 percent, while travel by airplane is forecast to decline by 10.7 percent. Gas prices have continued to drop, helping to power the travel increase.
