YNP Status Report Due
The sixth report to the United Nations World Heritage Committee on the conditions in Yellowstone National Park is due early this year, and the park is seeking the public’s review and comment of that report before it is sent. Yellowstone was designated a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1978, and the World Heritage Committee placed Yellowstone on its List of World Heritage in Danger in 1995 but removed it again in 2003. Chief of the Yellowstone Center for Resources David Hallick says the report being submitted is to include plans and actions currently underway that specifically seek to redress the 1995 threats and dangers. The draft progress report is available for public review and comment from now through January 20th at the National Park Service Planning, Environment and Public Comment website.
