Dogs Banned From Schoolgrounds
Irresponsible pet owners have led the Teton County School District to ban all dogs, whether leashed or not, to be on school grounds. That includes athletic fields, playgrounds and other outdoor school areas. Facilities Director Kevin Thibeault explains there are multiple reasons for this decision. They include dogs who simply want to play fightening children on the playgrounds, children at the schools who are allergic to dogs, and dog owners not cleaning up after their animals. Additionally, Thibeault points to the increasing number of synthetic athletic fields near the high school where dog waste has been causing particular problems. Thibeault says the school district will take the first couple weeks of the policy to familiarize the public with the new restriction, but will eventually become more become more stringent about enforcement.
