YNP Winter

The winter storm moving through northwestern Wyoming had closed some of the roads in Yellowstone National Park by Wednesday morning.  According to Spokesman Al Nash, the East Entrance road over Sylvan Pass was closed as was the road through Lamar Valley due to white-out conditions.  Nash says the weather station above Sylvan Pass recorded winds between 60 and 75 miles per hour yesterday gusting several times to over 100 miles per hour. Nash says obviously, once the white-out concerns have passed, concerns about avalanche danger on Sylvan Pass will likely keep the route closed for a time.
