Local Activities Impacted By Snow

The National Weather service says measurements of snow  around the valley floor of Jackson Hole from the current storm ranged upward from 12 inches this morning.  Among the amounts reported were 12 inches at Teton Village, 14 inches in South Park, 14 ½ inches at Wilson, 15 inches at the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park and 16 inches in Alpine.  A spotter at Swinging Bridge south of Jackson reported measuring 24 inches there.  As the snow continues to fall in those significant amounts, activities in the region continue to be curtailed.  Bridger Teton National Forest Supervisor Jacque Buchanan decided mid-morning to close the Supervisor’s office for the entire day.  Schools in Teton County District 401 in Teton Valley remain closed for the day as does that community’s Learning Academy Day Care.  All roads in Yellowstone National Park except for the route from Old Faithful to West Yellowstone are closed to all travel.  Teton County Library plans to close at 6:00 pm today.  As such, tonight’s Voices of the Valley program there has been rescheduled to March 8th.   The Jackson Hole Airport is operating on a modified schedule today and is encouraging all air travelers to check with their airline to determine any changes in their flight arrangements.  Teton Pass has been reopened now, but Wyoming Department of Transportation officials say the road conditions are very poor and the highway may be closed again at any time.
