Highway Crews Continue Avalanche Work
Jackson Hole is still going through the aftermath from this week’s winter storm. Teton Pass remains closed after highway crews were forced to close it at 9:15 Thursday night. Wyoming Department of Transportation officials report there were numerous avalanches, many which reached the road. At least one of those avalanche paths had not run for 20 years. As yet, there is no estimate of when it will be. WYDOT closed highway 89 south of Jackson about 10:30 am to shoot an avalanche path just south of High School Road. Fortunately, what ran there did not reach the road and the highway was quickly reopened. Lower Valley Energy Crews spent several hours this morning restoring power to the northern end of Teton County in Grand Teton National Park.
