IPSSSDR Gets Comedic Start

IPSSSDR_2012

It wasn’t a perfect start for this year’s International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race as Luc Mongeau, President of Mars Petcare North America which is the title sponsor of the race led the way with the first dignitary team from the starting line. The excited dogs jumped the countdown by nine seconds and kept going.  After two dignitary teams, the racing teams took off from the town square as well including three-time IPSSSDR Champion Blayne “Buddy” Streeper of Fort Nelson, British Columbia. Streeper says this year there are nine first-time teams in the race which he says are unpredictable.  He says as he runs the race, he won’t take anything for granted and will concentrate on getting the best time he can. By the end of the Lander leg of the race, Streeper was in third place and Bruce Magnusson of Manchester, Michigan in first.   The teams move on to Pinedale/Cora, Big Piney/Marbleton, Alpine, Evanston, and Lyman/Mountain View, Wyoming, over the next week before arriving in Park City, Utah, for the final stage and awards ceremony on Saturday, February 4th.

High pressure will be the main weather feature across much of the state today.  Expect partly to mostly sunny skies, mainly dry weather conditions, and near or slightly above normal temperatures.  Winds, however, could still be breezy to gusty at times.  Expect gusting between 35 and 50 mph across central and southeastern Wyoming this morning […]
  • Don’t commercialize hunting - November 20, 2014
The state of New Jersey is dealing with a huge whitetail deer overpopulation problem. To get more people to get out and hunt those deer, and hopefully bring the population down to a more manageable level, the state is toying with the idea of allowing the commercial sale of meat from wild deer. It’s a […]
  • Mostly Sunny And Seasonal, Still Windy At Times - November 19, 2014
High pressure will continue to build over the state of Wyoming today.  Expect sunny to mostly sunny skies and mainly dry conditions for much of the state.  The one exception will be in far northeastern portions of the state, where early flurries or light snow showers are possible.  Winds will also be breezy to gusty […]
