IPSSSDR Concludes
The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race is over for another year with Fort Nelson, British Columbia Musher Blyne Streeper scoring his fourth win in the annual event. Aaron Peck of Grand Prairie, Alberta who has competed in the IPSSSDR three times before came in second. Musher Stacey Teasley, wife of race organizer Frank Teasley, says that the stage stop format through the towns has helped generate excitement for the sport throughout the region. Teasley says it offers an opportunity for people to get a glimpse of how much trust and love is involved in that relationship between the mushers and their dogs. The race was inaugurated in 1996 by Frank Teasley of Jackson to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public. Pedigree® Food for Dogs became the title sponsor of the race as the company supports a variety of programs that promote responsible pet ownership and highlight the contributions dogs make to society.
