Mead Gives Focus To Less-Traditional Businesses
During his State of the State address, Wyoming Governor Matt Mead pointed to the various industries around the state that contribute to make the state strong. He included those industries depicted on the state seal: agriculture and minerals, as well as the state’s more recent leadership in energy production. Mead also made a point to emphasize the importance less traditional industries to the state’s economy. Mead says numerous budget recommendations for the tourism board, game and fish, state parks and natural resources, the wildlife trust, and the board of outfitters directly or indirectly support tourism which is the state’s second largest industry. Mead also pointed to the state’s pioneering efforts in the industry of information technology as an area important to the state’s future. Mead says the state needs to support what is needed for the businesses to compete and to prosper. Mead declared, “it is on Main Street where businesses grow and jobs are created – not in the capitol building.”
