Enzi Visits The Wyoming Senate
Wyoming’s US Senator Mike Enzi spoke to the Wyoming Senate for about 15 minutes Thursday explaining pending legislation and what he described as a dysfunctional legislative process currently in Washington. Enzi told the Wyoming lawmakers that the federal government has the process backwards – instead of representing the people of the 50 states, they are dictating laws and policies to those states. Enzi, who also is on the US Senate Committee on Budget and the Senate Committee on Finance, spoke of the lack of a budget for the federal government. Enzi says he is urging biennial budgeting like Wyoming considers its budget. Enzi adds that rather than adopting new programs when there is no money for them, they need to either be passed over, or other programs that are not working or are duplications of programs need to be eliminated in favor of the new programs. When it comes to living within a budget, Enzi told the lawmakers he finds a visit back to the Wyoming legislature “inspirational.”
