Snow Structures Planned Near Jackson
The reward of contracts this month has cleared the way for the erection of metal snow support structures to help prevent avalanches on the east side of US 26-89 south of Jackson. The project has been authorized under a $2.3 million contract awarded to AIS Construction of Carpinteria, California. Because of the elevation and steepness of the terrain, the structures will be installed using helicopters. Then, planting of native trees in front of the structures is expected to follow in 2013 with a contract completion date of June 30th.
