Funding For Park Land Proposed
President Barack Obama included $8 million for the National Park Service to buy about 86 acres of state land in Grand Teton National Park in the fiscal year 2013 budget he has submitted to Congress. Congress already appropriated $5 million for the parcel in fiscal year 2011, and even if Obama’s request is approved it still falls short of the funds needed to consummate the deal. The property is appraised at $16-million. The money in Obama’s request would come from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
