Dubois Great Cowboy Town
American Cowboy Magazine has recognized Dubois, Wyoming in its March & April issue as one of the best rural towns in the west. The article touts the population of 964 and its quaint nature with some of the nation’s oldest dude ranches and weekly rodeos. It also recalls that Butch Cassidy bought his cigars, neckerchiefs and various supplies at the 113-year-old Welty’s General Store when he punched cows in the area. In numbering Dubois and other selected towns for its list, the magazine declared, “Whether you already live in a place like this or want to, we honor and celebrate American community values. These are doorways to the Cowboy Way.”
