Unemployment Declines
Teton County’s unemployment rate decreased from 7.1 to 6.6 percent in February. The number of jobs in Teton County increased by about 300 from February 2011 to 2012. David Bullard, senior economist with the state Department of Workforce Services, Research and Planning said Teton County is seeing growth in industries that were sluggish last year. Bullard said that a local uptick in jobs in the hospitality and tourism industry is also a good indicator that the national economy is improving. The entire state of Wyoming, Bullard noted, has been seeing a steady decrease in unemployment numbers for the last six months. – Robyn Vincent
