Town Considers Demonstrators’ Request
Town of Jackson officials including the legal department, administrative department, planning department and law enforcement are trying to determine how best to manage demonstrations planned in May by the anti-abortion group that was here last year. “Operation Save America” has requested the use of the right-of-way in front of 900 West Broadway May 16th through 20th, and the town square May 19th and 20th to coincide with the activities of Elk Fest there. “Operation Save America” plans to distribute pro-life literature, display pro-life posters which may be graphic, and operate an amplified sound system. Currently, the town council is reviewing the special event requests of both the Boy Scout District and the anti-abortion group to determine the appropriate permitting. Council intends to make their decision at their Monday meeting.
