Water Supplies Still Good Here
While surrounding states are looking at drought and near-drought conditions as they go into the spring and summer season, the river basins in northwestern Wyoming are still in respectable conditions, while not as well off as last year at this time. The snow water equivalent measurements in the Madison and Yellowstone Basins are still over 90% of average for this time of year while the Snake River Basin is at 80%. Last year at this time, the Madison, Yellowstone and Snake River Basins were all showing 121% of the norm. At the same time the reservoirs in the area are collectively filled to 84% of their capacity with snow melt still running into them.
