Workshop For Recreationists In Bear Country

Bear-Spray

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is offering a workshop tonight in Jackson entitled “Staying Safe in Bear, Lion, and Wolf Country.”  Spokesman Mark Gocke says anyone planning any kind of outdoor recreation this summer could benefit from participating in the workshop. The workshop will feature presentations by officials from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Bridger Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, and Teton County about bear and lion food habits and where one would expect to encounter them, food storage regulations, and understanding bear and lion behavior.  Gocke says there will also be discussions about what to do in an encounter, and the proper use of bear spray. The workshop also will touch on the topic of wolves. The free workshop is from 6:30-9:00 pm in the Teton Room at Snow King Resort.
