“Take-back” Program Successful
Jackson Police, working in cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration and Smith’s Food and Drug, collected about 12¾ pounds of unwanted medications Saturday during the nationwide prescription drug “take-back” drive. The program was completely anonymous and citizens were asked to turn in expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs for destruction. Police Sergeant Cole Nethercott says those medications have subsequently been turned over to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation for destruction. Nethercott says residents who were unable to participate in the “take-back” program but who have unwanted prescription medications they would like to surrender for destruction can still turn those medications in during the Health Fair on this Saturday.
