Alliance Endorses Comp Plan

The Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance has come out in support, albeit cautious support, of the Jackson /Teton County Comprehensive Plan.  In its May newsletter, the Alliance stated that the organization supports the vision of the plan and the core values the plan expresses.  The statement lists those values as the concept of concentrated development footprints, the goal of an economy not dependent on population growth, and the focus on sustainability, natural resource protection and scenic vista preservation.  However, as the plan is adopted, the conservation organization calls for planners to address the methods and tools for shifting development patterns, estimates for the amount of development that will be allowed in each character district, and assurances that the implementation plan is adhered too and improved.  The Alliance statement concludes that many of the hard decisions are yet to come, but the group is committed to advocating for the correct and strongest interpretation of the policies so that they align with the community’s intent.
