Clean Up Week Begins In Teton County
It is the time of year that the snow vanishes in the valley and all that hidden trash from the last nine months is uncovered. Residents from Jackson and the surrounding county will be able to clean up their yards and neighborhoods over the next week, beginning Sunday, and bring their trash to the trash transfer station. Solid Waste and Recycling Administrative Assistant Murial Blaha says that trash can be dropped off through the week for a reduced rate. Additionally, Blaha says the trash transfer station will be open extended hours Saturday from 8:00am until 3:00 pm. Those dropping off vegetation collected in their yards and placed in a compostable bag may drop those bags off free. Blaha says at the same time, electronic waste will be accepted at half of the disposal price and may be dropped off at the recycle center. Hazardous wastes such as paints, automotive fluids, fertilizers and fluorescent tubes are banned from the landfill and transfer station. Clean-up week runs from Sunday through the following weekend; culminating in a town-wide clean-up effort.
