SnowKing Summer

Snow King revealed plans this week to add some new year-round recreation opportunities to the mountain. Manuel Lopez may be trying to sell Snow King’s hotel and conference center but he has no plans to sell the Town Hill. In fact, during a Town and County meeting this week Manuel and his son Sebastian unveiled plans to add several new features to Snow King mountain and its surrounding land with the goal of making Snow King a year-round destination and activities hub. Some of the features that Lopez want to add to the mountain include year-round zip-lines, some extreme and some for all ages, as well as  snow sports and mountain biking terrain parks, an amphitheater at the base of the mountain, a  mid-mountain concession and activity center and a backcountry yurt village. During his presentation Sebastian Lopez Wilson said, “Snow King has been the Town Hill for 73 years and it’s a hallmark of Jackson Hole. We need to move forward to make Snow King sustainable through modernization.” Plans should be on the ground, Manuel Lopez said, by summer 2013. – Robyn Vincent
