Saving The Ski Area

Could the Snow King Mountain Operations truly become a community-operated recreation center?  Jackson Town Council spent some time discussing those options during yesterday’s town council meeting.  Snow King Resort has suggested it might have to divest itself of the ski resort and related mountain facilities in the future.  Mayor Mark Barron explains that the town, in conjunction with several community organizations, is looking at ways to assure the facilities remain available. Barron explains in question are the ski area, lifts and snow-making equipment; miniature golf, Snow King Center ice arena and the mountain-top antenna leases.  Council also heard a report that preliminary census numbers show about 10-thousand residents in town and approximately 20-thousand in the county – little change from the last census.  Barron says it shows the town and county has been doing an excellent job in allowing controlled growth of the area.
