The summer season is fully under way in Yellowstone National Park as of 8:00 am today. That’s when the South Entrance road to the park opens to automotive traffic, making it the final entrance to open for the season. As of today also, visitors should be able to find most of the visitor facilities open. However, Spokesman Dan Hottle quickly warns that early spring conditions still exist in much of the park. Some trails may still be snow-covered, and spring snow flurries are still possible at higher elevations. Hottle cautions that there have been numerous bear sightings around the park and visitors need to observe all the recommended precautions for traveling in bear country.
