1% For the Tetons has announced it is opening its 2012 grants process today.  Under this program, 1% for the Tetons awards high-leverage grants to forward-looking projects helping sustain the Tetons region’s natural resources for future generations. Executive Director Jonathan Schechter says the granting program is based on the belief that thoughtful conservation provides the foundation of a healthy economy.  Schechter points out that during our first five years, 1% for the Tetons has granted over $555-thous and to fund such programs as developing Eco-Friendly Communities, Education, River Systems, Trails, and Wildlife.  Schechter says grant applications are being accepted through June 8th and application forms are available online.  The grants will be awarded in early July.
