Senate Education Bills Move On
Senator Leland Christiansen says while a bill that would have sought to end teacher tenure did not pass out of the Senate Tuesday, Senate Files 70 and 146 dealing with education and teacher accountability did see passage and have moved to the House now. Christiansen remarked about the prominence of education bills in this session. Meanwhile, Christiansen’s bill, Education Hunter Safety Courses, was well received by the standing committee in the House and is headed to the floor for debate there as well. If passed, that bill would make firearm safety education available in schools to students in the fifth or sixth grade. The Transfer of State Lands Bill sent to the Senate from the House last week will see its first floor debate in the Senate Thursday.
