Fatal Fire in Victor, ID
A Victor man has died as the result of an early Monday morning fire that destroyed his home along with a vehicle parked next to it. According to Fire Marshall Bret Campbell, the call was received shortly after 2:30 am and the Victor fire engine was on scene within minutes. Ultimately, he says, the efforts involved three water tenders and one engine each from Victor, Driggs and Tetonia. Upon arrival, fire crews were advised one of the two residents was inside the structure which was already more than 90% involved. Although the victim has not yet been officially identified by authorities, Teton Valley News is reporting that 33-year-old George Hoffman apparently died of smoke inhalation while his father escaped with only minor injuries. Campbell says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Campbell reminds residents they should have working smoke detectors in their homes and in case of a fire, they need to get out and stay out of the building.
